I’ve had an enduring love for wood my entire life, so the opportunity to go and watch the beautiful craft of hedge laying couldn’t be missed. With over 100 competitors showcasing various regional styles, the National Hedgelaying Championship held at Stanford Hall, is a perfect vision of English country life; hazy smokiness from open fires, content dogs lazing on cool fields and friendly conversations over techniques and coffee. Slow living at its best.
